Flora AR, an Augmented Reality Flower Experience for iOS & Android

“Flora AR” is a free augmented reality flower experience that encouraged users to get outside and explore their world by “planting” virtual flowers with personal messages to share with other users.

Another unique feature of “Flora AR” is its digital “bluebonnets” designed by artist and Texas native Marc Montoya.  Special interactive bluebonnet fieldswere found at The Alamo in San Antonio, at the Great Walk just south of the Texas Capitol, and at the George Washington Carver Museum and Cultural Center.

It also featured special patches of bluebonnets at the location of each artwork in Austin, TX commissioned by the City’s Art in Public Places Program.  This was among the first "mirror worlds" created that spanned the whole City of Austin.

This app is now retired from the store along with each of our prototype apps as we focus on our flagship augzoo app for iOS and Android.

This project is supported in part by the Cultural Arts Division of the City of Austin Economic Development Department.
